Sasdi school construction

Today we went to a small childhood school in one of the townships outside of Cape Town. For all of you don’t know what a township is here in South Africa, a township is one of the poorer areas of the city. We arrived at the project and were immediately separated into groups that were tasked with either painting, concrete hauling or mortar mixing. I being one of the bigger men on the trip got tasked with the hauling of the concrete in wheelbarrows from the truck to the new school floor that we were working on pouring. By the time we were finished with the concrete work we had hauled a total of 12 metric tons of cement by wheelbarrow. It was an amazing feat to say the least. Now that we are back at the hotel, I am a bit wore out but we are headed to the Chairmen of Sasdi’s house for dinner in about an hour. Today was definitely I eye opening experience, but it was great helping to build the school and getting to play with the children.
